The Pehoni House
Designed by Andrew Melesi in 2006, Pehoni House is an eclectic mix of architectural references. With two downstairs bedrooms and two upstairs bedrooms this house sleeps 9. The huge ground floor dining room seats 18 and the first floor living room has the some of best views on the Kenya Coast. There is a sunset viewing terrace on the second floor with two Swahili sunloungers. The house is furnished comfortably and simply in an uncluttered style with beautiful Swahili, Indian and Colonial wooden furniture. All rooms have ceiling fans. All pillows and 100% cotton bed linen/towels are provided.

Bedrooms
Upstairs
Large double bedroom with mosquito net tented bed, ensuite shower, double basins and loo, spectacular ocean view from a balcony with built in sofas.
Twin bedroom with mosquito net (there is also a spare single bed so this could be used as a triple for children), ensuite shower, double basins and loo. There is also a balcony off this bedroom.
Downstairs
Large double room with mosquito net hangings, ensuite shower, double basin and loo, private breakfast terrace.
Twin room ideal for children or teenagers with two Swahili beds with cone mossie nets, ensuite shower, basin and loo.
Dining Hall
This is a large-scale room, tall ceilings with 6 Moroccan style doors to the outside. It is light and airy, a large dhow wood table seats 18. There is a small built-in sitting area for cards or drinks.
First Floor Living Terrace
This fabulous space overlooking the mouth of the Creek has gorgeous ocean views. Two huge, heavily cushioned dhow wood sofas and some colonial chairs provide comfortable seating and repose. There is further seating on Turkish floor cushions, great for teenagers and to play cards, backgammon and chess, as well as a drinks cupboard and drinks fridge.This is an ideal entertaining space. A spiral staircase leads up to the spectacular roof terrace.
Kitchen
The kitchen is run by Raphael and Kahindi our very special cooks. Amongst other things they can cook the best lasagna out of Tuscany, Sashimi, Sushi, all fish are caught locally, Swahili curries, Indian curries and a perfect barbeque. Ceceliah is our experienced head housekeeper and is assisted by our housegirls, together they manage day-to-day cleaning, laundering and table service. We have all the Cutlery and Crockery and Glassware necessary.
Shopping
Raphael and Kahindi will do most of the food shopping if you discuss your menus with them. Kilifi has a large vegetable market, baker and farm shop, good butcher, supermarket and ice cream parlour. There is also a wines and spirits shop and a chemist. Local fishermen regularly call at the house with their day’s catch.
Gardens
The gardens are beautifully maintained by Peter, Israel and Dorcas. The grass is kept short and there are many exotic flowering trees and shrubs. There are masses of beautiful birds, many of which use the bird bath beside the pool. We have our own coconuts most of the year and other tropical fruits, depending on the season, for you to enjoy. There is a breakfast terrace outside both houses and very large outdoors dining table beside the swimming pool.
